Audio Policy Board Welcome Letter

Dear Studio Users,

The new Audio Policy Board would like to greet you. We are very excited to have been elected and look forward to our term. For those of you unaware, the Policy Board consists of Professor Jason Corey, Dave Greenspan, Rishi Daftuar, Brian Foster and Tomek Miernowski. It is our job to make sure that policies are followed and the rooms are being used appropriately. A few weeks ago, we held our first meeting. We discussed a few different topics that we would like to share with you. These topics include our role, current issues and future improvements.

Our role is to serve the studio community. As a policy board, we need to enforce the policy as well as be a means for users to communicate thoughts and ideas. While we do not want to restrict or hinder use, we must enforce all policies in order to create the best working environment possible. At the same time, we also would like to increase our sense of community. The studio users have varying expertise and we can all learn a lot from each other. We hope to make this kind of sharing possible and easy this year.

To take a first step, Rishi and Tomek have together created a blog designed to be a forum for users to stay updated and communicate about what is happening in the studio. This will include discussions about current studio projects, gear, microphones, the policy, techniques, tips, and anything else pertaining to the studios or to audio in general. The blog is now live, so check it out! -

We can't express enough how much we would like the community to be unified. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to talk about any studio related issue - audio.policy@umich.edu

Sincerely,

The Audio Policy Board
